What it costs

Our prices are on the website, which should not be unusual.

Every figure here is a real starting point, not a teaser. Publishing them saves you an evening and saves us a drive.

How we price

Five things move a number up or down.

Access

A garden a digger can reach costs a fraction of one where every barrow goes through the house. This moves prices more than size does.

What is underneath

Sand, rubble, old concrete or a decent base. We lift a slab before quoting so this is a known quantity rather than a guess.

Depth of build-up

A surface that carries a car needs a thicker sub-base than one that carries a table and chairs. More stone, more compaction, more muck away.

Waste

Spoil and broken slabs go in a licensed skip with transfer notes kept. Skips are a real line on the price, not an afterthought.

Materials

Reusing your existing paving costs nothing but labour. New paving ranges vary enormously, and we will quote options rather than pick for you.

Straight talk

We will quote you down as readily as up.

If you ask for a full relay and the base is sound, we will tell you and price the repair instead. A smaller honest job today is worth more to us than a big one you tell your neighbours about for the wrong reasons.

Questions about price

Why is there a minimum charge?

Because a small repair costs nearly as much to set up as a large one. The van loads, the skip gets booked, materials get bought and two of us turn up. Below about £650 a lift and relay does not cover that, and we would rather publish the figure than waste your afternoon.

Do you charge for a quote?

No. Visits and quotes are free and there is no obligation. We will not chase you afterwards either.

Will the price change once you start?

Only if we find something nobody could see — buried concrete, a collapsed drain, services in the wrong place. If that happens we stop, show you, and agree the cost before carrying on. We do not add charges you have not approved.

Do you take a deposit?

On larger jobs we ask for a materials deposit, set out in the quote before anything is ordered. The balance is due on completion.

Are you VAT registered?

Not at present, so the price you are quoted is the price you pay. There is no VAT to add.
